About the Role
This part-time role is designed for aspiring designers eager to gain hands-on experience in residential and hospitality projects. You'll contribute to projects that focus on health-driven, sustainable design, combining practicality with creativity. This is your chance to get in on the ground floor and help shape a new movement in wellness real estate. While the role offers flexibility, candidates based in the Northern Virginia or DC metro area are preferred for occasional in-person work.
As a valued member of our team, you'll take on a diverse range of responsibilities. Here's an overview of what your role might include:
What You’ll Do
Collaborate with senior designers on all phases of design, from concept development and planning to final installation.
Create detailed AutoCAD drawings, including floor plans, elevations, and construction documents, based on design specifications.
Assist with architectural construction documents, space planning, and overseeing various design phases.
Research and source sustainable materials, furnishings, and fixtures that align with wellness-focused design principles.
Coordinate and manage FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) schedules, orders, and deliveries, ensuring smooth procurement processes.
Track and process purchase orders, resolving delays and issues while maintaining an organized procurement system.
Prepare client proposals, pricing estimates, and presentations that communicate design ideas effectively.
Develop presentation materials, maintain project documentation, and generate detailed schedules and spreadsheets to support project coordination.
Provide on-site support during installations to ensure flawless execution and alignment with the design vision.
Build and manage relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and contractors to secure quotes and meet project specifications.
Help manage project schedules, track deliverables, and oversee the flow of project-related information.
Organize and maintain an updated library of samples, materials, and finishes for team use.
Contribute to the refinement of internal design systems, business processes, and team efficiencies.
Assist in creating social media content, blog posts, and client communications to enhance The Well Home’s brand presence.
What You Bring
A degree, enrollment, or completed coursework in interior design, architecture, or a related field (a BFA/AAS is preferred).
1-2 years of experience in AutoCAD, with proficiency in creating and modifying 2D and 3D technical drawings.
Knowledge of space planning, construction documents, and an understanding of basic construction processes.
Proficiency in design software, such as AutoCAD (for Mac preferred), SketchUp, Revit, or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign).
Familiarity with design management tools like Studio Designer is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and manage priorities effectively.
Creative problem-solving skills paired with high attention to detail and a positive, collaborative attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with clients, vendors, contractors, and team members.
A passion for wellness, sustainability, and designing spaces that promote health and harmony.
Rendering skills, by hand or software, are an advantage.
Proficiency in Google Suite and/or other project management tools.
A driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to support site visits when needed.
